  • We had a productive meeting yesterday. I still am unclear on the strategic plan to develop resources for the UNMHSC extension services, but perhaps just “jumping in” and seeing what develops is the best approach for now. Can anyone share their some ideas about how to take this idea out to our community stakeholders? -- Frank

    Not "their some" ideas :-)

  • Over the past two weeks, I have met with several health care leaders in Dona Ana County. They are enthusiastic about the possibility of having UNMHSC in southern New Mexico. A couple of individuals had questions about the cooperative extension model – mainly about the cultural-appropriateness. It seems some people associate county extension with narrow farming and ranching interests, not working with “underserved” populations. So some education may be needed for community members on how it applies with what UNMHSC is doing with its planned extension to the rest of the state. -- Frank
